There is MORE

This past weekend I was very honored when Pastors Todd and Mary asked me to preach about living a life of abundance.

Which is ironic because growing up, I always felt like God wanted me to suffer to an extent. One reason why was because my definition of abundance was skewed. Living in abundance is more than receiving and enjoying monetary things. It’s peace. It’s joy. It’s freedom. It’s hope. Yes, this life isn’t perfect. Things will go wrong. There will be loss but through it all- it’s possible to live out of overflow, not scarcity.

After prayer, research, and studying I discovered practical things we can do to start making abundance our default response, instead of scarcity. You can check that out in the video below! It’s laid out better on there.

But I wanted to take a moment to tell you there REALLY is MORE. There is more for you in this life. More than your day to day grind. More for you in every season.

If I am being transparent, my thoughts are what stall me every so often from living a life of abundance. I know I can’t be the only one! If God’s word encourages us to renew our mind, it must be because so many of us battle it.

It’s that voice that you hear on the inside of you, that sounds like you, but isn’t you. Crazy, but that is how the enemy loves to work. Tricking you into thinking the negativity you say to yourself is true. But… it’s not.

Previously, I hit such a wall. Or maybe more accurate, fell into a hole? When my pastor approached me, I couldn’t help but cry. I just felt like there was so much going on in the inside of me, I couldn’t and didn’t know how to let it out, let alone communicate what was really going on. I took on more than I thought I was this past year. All I could say was, “I just can’t stand to be in here” as I pointed to my head. After a good talk and lots of encouragement, I knew I had to do my part. I had to take up the initiative again and start to reformat my mind. Scale the wall! Lay down the victim feelings and start to fight.

There will be days where I will feel like I can kick major butt. Other days…. not so much. But the inner mean girl doesn’t have to come out and pick on my insecurities. Go back to where you belong!

The truth is, we can either entertain those thoughts and keep them on loop OR we can capture them and start declaring who God says we are.

Why share all this? Because if I can do it, you can do it! Because we’re all works in progress and we should be honest with our struggles with people we trust. We can know we’re not alone and it’s possible to move on and to push forward. Know that there are people in your corner cheering you on!

This Next Level Thinking series at Church Unleashed has really been awesome. If you’ve missed the messages, go on YouTube and take a listen. We’re continuing this Sunday and we would love to see you there as we dive into burying our past.
